We are proud to introduce our first bottling of our estate Reserve Pinot Noir!
Vineyard - Sourced exclusively from the Vines and Roses Estate on Olivet Rd in the center of the Russian River Valley. The rows that make up this wine are planted to Calera and Eden- two heirloom clones famed for their small yield and high quality. We farm for this wine much tighter using the oldest vines (36 years) and limiting the yield to just one ton per acre.
Vintage - 2023 will go down as one of the most phenomenal vintages in California history. Higher than average rainfall kicked off the growing season which led to a successful bloom. A cooler spring led to a growing season that was 14 days behind 2022. The vintage remained cool with plenty of sunshine and little moisture allowing for long hang times and preservation of acidity. We picked late with low sugars, balanced chemistry and mature tannins.
Fermentation - Fermented in a 1.5-ton fermenter with 30% of the fruit left whole cluster and added to the bottom of the tank. The fruit was left to cold soak until the onset of indigenous fermentation. Punchdowns ensued up to three times daily during peak fermentation then slowed to once a day below 10 Brix. Once dry the must was gently pressed directly to barrels. The wine was aged in barrel until bottling.
